My dharma is to create art, teach and inspire people. As far back as I can recall I have been creating art. It all started at my gram's kitchen counter with a pencil and paper and a little imagination. This was at a time when I needed to climb up the stool to sit on it. I recall being in her kitchen when I painted my first masterpiece; a paint-by-number of Mork and Mindy! I have fond memories, as most of us do, of going to Gram's house where there was always plenty of food and family fun. Even more elating to me was playing on "Bobby's" Atari in the basement or creating stick figure masterpieces on his super rad 512k "Fat Mac" in which he only allowed me to use the Paint program. This is obviously where my graphic designer skills and digital art interest came from. "Bobby" is my left brained cousin who has been working for the Adler Planeterium in Chicago for over 25 years now...wow, right? He started when he was 5...no - really at 18 - and is their Tech Guru not surprisingly. I, the right brained one, obtained my degree in computer animation from the Art Institute of Colorado. I never quite let go of the inner child screaming at me to draw, paint, as well as peck away on my computer to no end to create digital art, animations, and graphic design pieces.
I currently have a home in Georgetown, Colorado. When I am not around the mountains hanging out, I play and work in Denver, CO (LoDo). I have been a college instructor for the Computer Graphics and Animation Department at Westwood College of Technology, a freelance graphic designer, and an art director for a small specialty food company in Denver. I also help out in our family businesses revolving around software and technology in the turn-around business sector.
In art, I am currently working with oils on larger framed canvas, and I am freelancing as a graphic and web designer. As a yoga and spin instructor I am able to keep my teaching talent put to work. It also helps my creativity to "flow" - come flow or spin with me at Qi!. For more info or to view the schedules go to www.qidenver.com and/or www.dawnelleyoga.com.
